HTMarket.com was started to serve a hobby home theater customer. Today the market has grown whereas many people now enjoy theaters in their home. We have everything on one site for home theater including projectors, screens, seating, popcorn machines, and more.

Navigating on this home theater furniture site is easy. The top bar always shows nine major product categories and the left bar shows subcategories under major categories. Shopping cart works well and order processing is smooth. We do see the site has a few browser compatibility issues. For example, the search button on the top right is not aligned correctly on IE8 and Chrome, item and dollar amount in the mini shopping cart bar is not aligned correctly on Fireforx and IE8. Such little issues don’t stop customers from buying but a quick fix will definitely improve the site usability. One great feature on the site is “home theater personal consultant” where you can submit your question and get professional opinion on products later by phone or email. If the company can turn this feature into online real-time chat, we believe it would benefit shoppers more.

Products Selection and Presentation

Products selection is one of strong reasons to shop from the site. Unlike other home furniture stores, this site mainly focuses on the home theater segment. From a great home theater system to a super comfortable home theater seating, from an old fashion popcorn machine to bar stools, you can almost find anything that can enhance your movie experience at home. Moreover, the site shows you blueprints on product pages so that you can know exact sizes of what you buy and do better planning.

The website looks and feels like a mail insert advertisement with many eye-catching deals and pictures of health people, but it is really a well-designed website that focuses on customer service. The homepage lists their daily special and offers many ways to get the or to place an order.

The visitor can choose from one of the many options:
  • use an online Live Chat to get help directly embedded into the webpage,
  • call an 800 telephone number to get info,
  • get on their catalogue mailing list that delivers a printed catalogue in 2-3 weeks,
  • sign-up for their email specials.

By having a menu of different customer contact methods, the company makes it easy for people with varying degree of comfort with technology to find and to order what they want, in a way that they find easy. On the product level, each supplement has its own navigation link on the side that makes it easy to find and to jump to the product section. There are also some products news that a visitor might find interesting to read through the newest research and product improvement.

Since most products selling on this site are directly manufactured, packaged, and shipped by the company itself, the site is able to cut all middlemen cost and sell them directly to end consumers at amazingly low prices. However, the site only does bundle sale (i.e. BOGO), which means you can’t buy single item there. Usually this is not an issue because people will take supplements on daily basis and don’t mind to stock up those pills.

It has designed its pricing information so the consumer is presented with saving through volume buying. This is company that makes profit through volume sales, and its website and pricing reflect that.
